Transmigrating into Love

Love as a bridge

Trasmigrare nell'Amore was born in 2019 as both a continuation and a transformation of the research begun with Trasmigrare.

Invited by the Biennale d'Arte Contemporanea di Salerno, I carried out an artist residency in Vincenzo Santoriello’s studio in Vietri sul Mare. The size and possibilities of the space allowed me to work on a larger scale and to develop a work conceived especially for that context.

If Trasmigrare had been born from memory, roots and the reunion between Argentina and Italy, in this new stage I wanted to turn my gaze towards what can unite us beyond our places of origin.

Love as common ground.

I chose to portray two children brought together in a gesture of encounter. Two figures that can also be two territories, two cultures, two stories that draw closer and recognise each other.

Childhood appears once again in my work as an essential place: a space that comes before borders and differences, from which the bond with the other can still be imagined through openness, trust and affection.

In this way, migration is no longer only a movement between territories, but also a possibility for encounter and transformation.

The work was donated to the Istituto Comprensivo Statale “Rita Levi-Montalcini” in Salerno, at a ceremony attended by local authorities.

Its presence there extends the meaning with which it was created: a work born from the encounter between Argentina and Italy that remains in a space inhabited by new generations.
